The pelicans should try to build their young core of Williamson, Murphy and Herb Jones as well as the new additions Jordan Poole and Jeremiah. In the offseason, however, there were some rumbling about a potential Murphy trade.
Already in August, some talks about the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs were spoken, who showed interest in Murphy.

Of course there is no surprise that these two teams are interested in Murphy because it is a dynamic two-way wing that could fit into any system. Fortunately for Pelicans fans, they hesitated to continue from him.
Regardless of where the pelicans stand, the warriors remain interested. The NBA insider Jake Fischer recently spoke about the interest of the Golden State to Murphy in an episode of the “Insider Notor Book” and how Jonathan Kuminga’s contractual situation could influence a potential trade.

Fischer talks about how the warriors Murphy moved almost via Moses Moody in 2021 before Murphy was finally selected to 17. Of course, the warriors would thrive on their squad with a player like Murphy, so that their persistent interest in him is not shocking.
For the pelicans, the idea of exchanging Murphy for Kuminga does not seem to be a great idea, even if Kuminga is three years younger. The pelicans are best suited when they can keep Murphy nearby as long as possible and exchange them for a conference rival like the warriors.
The assumption is that the interest of the warriors in Murphy is nothing, but it is something to keep an eye on the eye.
